One of the many great things about living where we do is that it allows us access to Katie's Clinic at Children's Hospital Oakland. Katie’s Clinic is one of the few places in the United States specializing in diagnosis and comprehensive care for girls and young women with Rett syndrome and MECP2 disorders.
They help the patient, family and their care team handle health and development issues caused by Rett syndrome. They also participate in clinical research aimed at learning more about Rett syndrome management and treatment strategies.
Katie’s Clinic was founded because the medical concerns and development of children with Rett syndrome are unique and require specialized care.
While there is currently no cure, treatments are available that can improve the quality of life for girls and young women with Rett, as well as their families. Their specialists are experienced in meeting the medical, developmental, psychological and social needs of children with Rett syndrome.
